SWEEDISH MASSAGE refers to a collection of techniques designed primarily to relax muscles by applying long strokes toward the heart. Swedish massage can increase circulation, remove metabolic waste products, and help a patient develop a better awareness of his or her body and the best way to use and position it. Sweedish massage shortens recovery time of muscular strains by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It improves circulation and stretches ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple. It Feels GREAT!

SPORTS MASSAGE focuses on the muscles relevant to a particular athletic activity. It can also include pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, which lessens the probability of injury and reduces recovery time.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE is a system of bodywork that affects the connective tissue of the body. Through the application of sustained pressure and movement that elongates and alters the connective tissue, myofascial release eliminates fascial restrictions. Fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. It surrounds every muscle and joint in the body.

TRIGGER POINT WORK: When a muscle is strained or has toxins in it from illness or lack of circulation, trigger points become active, locking the muscle into a partial contraction. Trigger points may also cause a referred sensation (pain, numbness, tingling) to areas that are distant from the affected muscle. Muscles with trigger points don't stretch back to their original length until the trigger point is resolved.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
